My Favorite San Diego Engagement Shoot Spots

One of the great things about San Diego besides the weather (if you like sunny and warm weather 90% of the time) is that there are so many great spots to do engagement shoots. Even better is that they are all so close and accessible. You can go from nature to downtown, beach front to city night life all in the same day.

There are a ton of locations and this list does not come close to listing them all, but here is a quick little list of some of the popular spots in San Diego that make great engagement shoots.

Coronado Island

Located just a short trip over the bridge from San Diego, Coronado has many great locations to shoot engagement photos. Some of the favorites are the historic Hotel Del Coronado, Centennial Park, and also the Coronado bridge as a backdrop.

Hotel Del Coronado

The Victorian style beach resort is a designated National Historic Landmark and once the largest resort hotel in the world. Many great photo opportunities are available on the property, but also with the hotel set in the background.

Centennial Park

One of the only places where you can get the San Diego skyline and bay in the frame, this one is definitely a favorite. Located just a short walk from the ferry landing, there are many awesome spots to snap some pictures and capture the amazing SD skyline in the background.

Coronado Bridge

Not an actual spot you can visit, but there are plenty of areas where you can grab some amazing shots with the bridge present off in the distance. The Crosby Street Park is one such location that offers some unique views that not too many have utilized.

Balboa Park

Located right near Downtown San Diego, Balboa is quite popular for engagement photos because there are so many awesome spots to grab amazing photos of your bride and groom to-be. Below are some of the features that make Balboa so great.

Spanish architecture

The buildings in the park are designed with beautiful Spanish Colonial architecture that creates some very classic looking photos.

Botanical Gardens

The park has many gardens from the Botanical Building with reflecting pool, to the Lily Pond, to the Zoro garden. There are many more all around the park that provide lush greenery for the perfect natural look.

San Diego Zoo

Located in Balboa Park, the zoo offers something for those who want to get a little wild. Aside from the obviously awesome photos that can incorporate the wildlife, the  zoo also offers some amazing gardens and collections unlike anything you have seen.

Torrey Pines

A nature reserve located in San Diego, this location offers trails and cliffs that look over the water. It is an actual reserve and not a park, so if shooting in this location be sure to be mindful of the area and leave it as your found it once done getting all your shots.

Seaport Village

Located in downtown by the bay, this is a great area with tons of dining and entertainment options. Parking is close and make this area very accessible.
