For those of you that don’t know, I picked up a camera almost 9 years ago and exclusively shot nightlife photography (bars, concerts, and events). I switched gears when I first moved to California in 2012 and stopped shooting nightlife for a bit, but then started up again in 2014, where I met Andrew (another fellow photographer) at one of the clubs I frequently shot at. This was also a huge plus because it means that all of Andrew & Jenna’s friends were a freaking blast throughout the day (as you’ll soon see below). Although I knew next to nothing about Jenna and Andrew initially, I really got to know them when I shot their engagement photos (check out their San Diego engagement session here).

On the wedding day - Jenna and the girls started off at the Empress Hotel, while Andrew and the guys got ready at the Inn at La Jolla. We then walked over to the La Jolla Woman’s Club for the girls finished getting ready. Several portraits later and it was time for their ceremony to start! Although the lighting wasn’t the best, my second photographer (Joshua Mitchell) and I managed to get some great moments. Once the ceremony concluded, we gave the couple a bit of a break, followed by photographing family, bridal party, and couple’s portraits. Since Andrew is a photographer, I really wanted to blow his and Jenna’s mind with some creative portraits - and I got one of my current favorite silhouettes EVER (the main image of the blog).

After portraits, it was all downhill. The reception started, and after the guests ate and speeches finished, the couple, their family, and their friends got down HARD on the dance floor (shout out to Mikey Beats for always getting people wild during the reception!). The dance floor featured a Congo line, twerking, and more.

For photographers: I used a Nikon D5 + D850. For lenses, I used a 24-70mm, 35mm, 45mm, 58mm, and 85mm. Dance floor lit with Flashpoint R2 flashes.
